Features

Every keystroke counts.

Zyp keeps the dual-pane workflow you already know, and makes every part of it faster.

Dual-pane, always

Smart resume

Interrupted transfers pick up from the last byte on SFTP and FTP — no wasted bandwidth on retries.

uploaded 64% resumed 36%

Edit in place

Open a remote file in your editor. Save. Zyp uploads automatically — no re-upload step, no modal.

const zyp = fast; await upload(zyp); // saved · uploaded ✓

Keyboard-first

Trackpad optional. Everything reachable from home row.

⌘FSpace/F5F6

Compare & sync

Diff a local folder against a remote one, filter by status, cherry-pick, and push either way — with a clear preview before anything moves.

only local · 3 only remote · 1 newer · 7 in sync · 42

Archive transfers

Download whole trees as one .zip or .tgz — packed on the server.

Bookmarks & search

Star any folder for one-click access. Recursive name search with sensible depth limits.

Queue you control

Pause, resume, reprioritize, and retry failed transfers. Every byte accounted for.

Compare & sync

No more "which is newer?"

Diff a local folder against a remote one. Filter by status. Cherry-pick. Push either way. What rsync -n makes you squint to figure out, Zyp shows in a glance.

local ~/Projects/site prod /var/www/site

Filter, don't scroll Toggle status chips to focus on just what changed. Ignore the 42 files that are already in sync.
Both directions in one view No separate "upload" and "download" modes. Every row shows an arrow — click to send that file where it needs to go.
Works on SFTP, FTP, WebDAV, S3 Same UI across every protocol. Diff a local project against S3, WebDAV, or a bare SFTP server without switching tools.
Install

First launch, in seconds.

Zyp is not yet notarized (macOS) or Authenticode-signed (Windows), so both operating systems display a one-time warning on first launch. The steps below clear it.

01

macOS · easiest

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg.
  2. Drag Zyp onto Applications.
  3. Double-click ① Install & Launch.command.

Removes the macOS quarantine flag and launches Zyp. Subsequent launches open normally, like any installed application.

02

macOS · terminal

  1. Drag Zyp.app to Applications.
  2. Open Terminal, paste:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Zyp.app
open /Applications/Zyp.app
03

Windows

  1. Run Zyp-1.3.0-x64-setup.exe.
  2. If SmartScreen appears: More infoRun anyway.
  3. Finish the wizard, launch from Start.

Zyp is safe — the installer is simply not yet Authenticode-signed. You can verify its integrity by comparing the SHA-256 hash below. Windows remembers your choice after the first run.

Verify your download

The installer is safe — here's how to prove it.

Zyp isn't yet code-signed with an Authenticode (Windows) or Developer ID (macOS) certificate, so SmartScreen and Gatekeeper don't recognize the publisher on first run. Every release publishes a SHA-256 checksum so you can confirm the file you downloaded is byte-for-byte the one shipped here.

If the number your machine prints matches the one above, the installer is exactly what we shipped — even if SmartScreen or Gatekeeper doesn't yet recognize the publisher.

FAQ

Good questions.

Is Zyp really free?

Yes. Free forever. No trial, no premium tier, no account.

What protocols does Zyp support?

SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol), FTP / FTPS, WebDAV (HTTP & HTTPS, Basic or Digest auth), and S3-compatible object storage (AWS S3, MinIO, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, …). AWS credentials can be typed in or loaded from a named profile in ~/.aws/credentials.

Where are my sites and passwords stored?

Locally, in your OS keychain (Keychain on macOS, Credential Manager on Windows). Nothing leaves your machine.

Does Zyp phone home?

No. Zero analytics, zero telemetry, no auto-update pings. The only network calls Zyp makes are the ones you tell it to make.

Why does macOS say "cannot verify"?

Zyp is not yet notarized with Apple, so Gatekeeper does not recognize the publisher on first run. See first launch for a single-command fix.

Why the Windows SmartScreen warning?

For the same reason as macOS — the installer is not yet signed with an Authenticode certificate, so Windows does not yet recognize the publisher. Click More infoRun anyway to proceed. You can independently verify the installer's integrity by comparing its SHA-256 hash against the value published on this page.

Which build do I need on Mac?

Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says Chip: Apple M… pick Apple Silicon; otherwise pick Intel.

Does Zyp run on Linux?

Yes — as of 1.3.0. Native AppImage, .deb (Ubuntu / Debian / Mint / Pop!_OS), .rpm (Fedora / RHEL / openSUSE), and portable .tar.gz for both x64 and arm64 (Raspberry Pi 4 / 5, Ampere, ARM Chromebooks). Download links are under Download.

Is Zyp open source?

Source-available soon, under a permissive non-commercial license.

Changelog

What's new.

1.3.0

July 2026
Latest
  • Linux support — native builds for every major distribution. AppImage (any distro, no install), .deb (Ubuntu / Debian / Mint / Pop!_OS), .rpm (Fedora / RHEL / openSUSE), and .tar.gz (portable). Both x64 and arm64 (Raspberry Pi 4/5, Ampere, ARM Chromebooks).

  • Right-click any saved site in the sidebar for: Open in new tab, Load into form, Rename, Delete.

July 2026
  • WebDAV support (HTTP and HTTPS, Basic or Digest auth) with resumable uploads via SabreDAV Partial Update PATCH.
